HOW CLOSE ARE WE TO A VACCINE?

The most optimistic time frame is before the end of this year. Most vaccinologists think a vaccine will take at least 18 months.

So far, it is estimated there are 35 vaccine candidates for COVID-19 currently in the pipeline, and some are already set to start human trials as early as next month.

These vaccines are based on a wide range of platforms, (including mRNA, DNA, nanoparticles, subunits, synthetic peptides and virus-like particles, to name a few).
